Cameroon head coach, Rigobert Song has disclosed that they respect the Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as a player but not afraid of him.
The Indomitable Lions will face its familiar foes, the Super Eagles, in the round of 16 of the AFCON in Abidjan on Saturday.
Osihmen will be a cynosure of all eyes as the Cameroonians would be keeping a close tab on him.
The reigning CAF Player of the Year has only scored one goal in three games which was against Equatorial Guinea in the 34th edition of the AFCON.
Despite not setting the AFCON 2023 alight yet, Osimhen is one player the Cameroonians would be wary of because of the threat he carries.
Meanwhile, Song explained that his side is not afraid of the threat of Osihmen as they are focused to win the encounter.
“Osimhen is a big player,” Song was quoted on uk.sports.yahoo.com.
“We know him and respect him. But respecting him doesn’t mean that we should fear him.”
The two-time AFCON winner pointed out what his players must do to get the better of their rival.
“We are focused to play and avoid engaging in emotions. We must apply our philosophy and technique to win … We cannot be worried about a football game.
“We will approach this match with confidence and the outcome we want will come.”
