King Charles III, has been admitted to a private London hospital for prostate surgery on Friday morning.
The Buckingham Palace has revealed.
Punch Metro had reported that the Palace had earlier last week announced that King Charles III’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period as he was set to attend hospital for treatment for an enlarged prostate.
The 75-year-old king was diagnosed with the benign condition on Jan. 17 after going for a check-up because he was experiencing symptoms.
“In common with thousands of men each year, the King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate. His majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation,” the statement had said.
Charles, who acceded to the throne 16 months ago, was diagnosed with the benign condition on Jan. 17 after going for a check-up because he was experiencing symptoms. He canceled engagements and was urged to rest ahead of the procedure.
The publicity around the king’s surgery is seen as an opportunity to encourage other men to have their prostates checked in line with public health advice.
The palace said the king was “delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.″
