Guinea-Bissau head coach, Baciro Cande has bemoaned that his side lose to Super Eagles and ended the campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on a disappointing note.
Cande expressed this lamentation in his post-match press conference.
The Djurtus lose 1-0 defeat to Nigeria at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, on Monday night.
Opa Sanganté’s own-goal in the 36th minute was enough for Nigeria to secure the round of 16 spot. The Guinea-Bissau defender was trying to cut out a cross for Victor Osimhen.
It was the West Africans third defeat in the competition.
Guinea-Bissau are yet to record a win at the AFCON finals since making their first appearance in 2017.
Cande expressed disappointment that the side didn’t live up to expectations in Cote d’Ivoire.
“Three outings which all ended in defeats, these are not the results we were hoping for,” Cande told a press conference after the game.
“We did not show the true colors of Guinea Bissau, we were eliminated, that’s the game.
“Now we will get back to work and come back stronger.”
