Nigeria’s first female Major-General, Aderonke Kale, who passed away on November 8,2023, has been laid to rest.
Her son, Yemi Kale, a former Statistician-General at the National Bureau of Statistics, shared the news and funeral arrangements on his social media handle.
The interment was held on Friday at St James Anglican Church, Mobalufo, Ejirin Road, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
The reception took place on Saturday at the Omolayole Hall, University of Ibadan International Conference Centre.
Kale, who was 84 at the time of her passing, made history as the first female officer to be promoted to the rank of Major General in the Nigerian Army and in West Africa.
She was also the first female Commander of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps.
This remarkable trailblazer has left an indelible mark on the history of the Nigerian military.
