A yet-to-be-identified dead body has been recovered from the explosion that occurred at Dejo Oyelese Street, Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Tuesday night.
This was revealed in a 35 seconds shared by our correspondent on Wednesday morning.
In the video, the National Security and Civil Defence Corps in collaboration with Federal Road Safety Corps were seen clearing the body in preparation to take it to mortuary.
However, the identity of the corpse cannot be ascertained as the time of filing this report.
A loud bang was heard and vibration was felt across several locations in Ibadan at about 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Some affected persons shared pictures and videos of broken window glasses from their apartments.
Men of the anti-bomb squad of the Nigeria police, firefighters and operatives of the Amotekun security outfit are reported to have arrived at the scene of the explosion.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde revealed in a statement that the explosion which was by illegal mining activities in the state which led to the death of two and injured 77 individuals.
In the statement Makinde said, “In total, we have 77 injured victims so far, most of whom were treated and discharged, and 2 fatalities. May their souls rest in peace, and may God give their loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
Speaking after his visit to the site and hospitals treating the injured, the the Governor said, “Preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there which caused the blast. The investigations are ongoing. All those found culpable for this will be brought to book.”
