The National Television Authority has said it will show all the African Cup of Nation 2023 matches after successfully secured the exclusive broadcasting rights for the highly anticipated tournament.
The announcement was made in a terse statement posted on its X, formerly Twitter handle on Wednesday after Multichoice, the owners of DSTV and Super Sports, failed to secure the rights for the highly coveted football spectacle as in previous years.
“NTA signs memorandum of understanding with Afro Sports for transmission of 52 matches of Africa Cup of Nations in Cot D’ivoire”, it said.
The monumental deal guarantees that every moment of the continental football extravaganza will be aired on NTA.
The Africa Cup of Nations, also known as the TotalEnergies AFCON or simply AFCON or CAN, is widely recognised as Africa’s premier international men’s association football competition.
The 34 edition of the AFCON is set to kick off on Saturday, 13 January 2024, and end on Sunday, 11 February 2024, and will be held in the vibrant football nation of Cote d’Ivoire.
NTA has joined forces with Afro Sports, sealing a game-changing memorandum of understanding.
This crucial collaboration ensures that NTA will broadcast all 52 electrifying matches of the AFCON tournament.
