The management of Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service, has announced a ban on any form of negotiation between the staff of the board and taxpayers, especially on cash payment.
The Executive chairperson of the board, Hajiya Rakkiya Ahmed Dodo, disclosed this on Thursday during Zamfara Radio Hausa weekly phone-in program titled, ‘da Ruwan ciki akan ja na rijiya’.
Dodo reaffirmed her commitment towards reviving the process of accumulating revenues to the State Government.
She explained that it was impossible for the government to execute various developmental projects that affected the people without total cooperation of taxpayers.
“The significance of tax payment to the government cannot be over-emphasized as it assists in complementing policies and programmes’ implementation”, she added.
While bemoaning lack of awareness among taxpayers across the State, the Executive Chairperson noted further that her leadership would continue to sensitize the taxpayers through partnership with relevant stakeholders.
She noted that the relevant stakeholders include Ministries, Departments, Boards and Agencies, as well as Private Sectors for achieving desired goals.
“The appropriate channel of tax-payment will be through branches of commercial banks in the State approved by the Board to avoid fraudulent activities,” she said.
