British actress Glynis Johns, famed for portraying the feminist character Mrs. Banks in the 1964 film “Mary Poppins,” has passed away at the age of 100.
According to Johns’ longtime manager, Mitch Clem, she passed away “peacefully” on Thursday morning in Los Angeles at an assisted living home, where she had been residing for several years.
Survived by her grandson Thomas and three great-grandchildren, Johns’ cause of death remains undetermined at this time.
“Glynis powered her way through life with intelligence, wit, and a love for performance, affecting millions of lives,” Clem said in a statement on Thursday. “She entered my life early in my career and set a very high bar on how to navigate this industry with grace, class, and truth.”
