Japanese authorities have stated that the crashed jet on Tuesday was cleared for landing before the crash incident occured.
PUNCH METRO on Tuesday reported that the incident which occurred at the Haneda Airport in Tokyo
A coast guard plane collided with a passenger jet during what airline officials claim was a permitted landing resulted in the loss of five lives aboard in the coastguard plane.
However, all 379 passengers and crew on the Japan Airlines Airbus managed to evacuate down emergency slides just moments before the airliner became engulfed in flames late on Tuesday.
Regrettably, the captain of the coast guard plane, the sole survivor, sustained serious injuries. The aircraft had been en route to provide assistance in the New Year’s Day earthquake zone.
Footage captured on Tuesday vividly displayed a fiery explosion and billowing black smoke emanating from beneath the airliner shortly after its landing, when its front landing gear failed, causing it to halt on its nose.
Videos posted on social media showed passengers swiftly evacuating via inflatable slides as flames erupted from the rear of the aircraft.
Despite the efforts of numerous fire engines, adorned with flashing blue and red lights, to extinguish the blaze, the entire plane succumbed to the flames, requiring eight hours to finally be put out.
