Edo State new Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adeboye, has declared war against cultism as he officially assumed duty in Benin, the state capital.
Adeboye who assumed duty on Tuesday strongly warned cult members disturbing the peace of the state to take their leave or face the wrath of law.
The CP equally warned officers and men of the command to eschew corruption and other infractions while carrying out their duties.
Received by top officers of the Command, the Edo new police boss noted that his administration would be motivatedby democratic policing and fear of God.
“Cultism is a dangerous trend which we are ready to curb.
“The Inspector General of Police has resolved that this menace of cultism should be curbed without reservation and Gov. Godwin Obaseki is on the same page with the police’s resolve on cultism,” he said.
Adeboye said the Command under his watch, would leave not stone unturned to rid the state of cultism, vowing not to allow cult groups to dent the image of the administration.
“My main priority as commissioner of police in Edo is to put an end to cultism through lawful means,” he declared.
