The Super Eagles’ journey to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations intensifies as the majority of the 25 selected players are set to land in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
This marks the commencement of a pivotal 7-day training camp in the UAE’s capital, aimed at honing their strategies ahead of the prestigious AFCON finals.
Coming from various bases across Europe, the squad will converge in Abu Dhabi, with exceptions made for Samuel Chukwueze, Francis Uzoho, William Troost-EKong, and Umar Sadiq.
The quartet has been granted permission by the Nigeria Football Federation to honor their club commitments on Tuesday and will join their teammates in camp a day later.
Scheduled to commence on January 13, 2024, the 34th edition of the AFCON tournament, organized by the Confederation of African Football, is drawing near.
Jose Peseiro’s contingent will regroup in Lagos on January 10 before jetting off to Abidjan on the same day, where the tournament will be held.
Drawn in Group A alongside hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau, the three-time African champions are set to kick off their campaign against Equatorial Guinea at the Alssanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday, January 14.
Following that, they will face hosts Cote d’Ivoire at the same venue four days later and will conclude their group stage encounters against Guinea-Bissau on Monday, January 22.
