The Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Safiyanu Andaha have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
According to The PUNCH, the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Kassimu, disclosed this to journalists in Lafia, the state capital.
“The Chairman, Safiyanu, was abducted at Ningo village on the Akwanga-Andaha Rad in the Akwanga Local Government Area of the state along with one Alhaji Adamu Custom at about 8:30 p.m. on January 1, 2024,” he said.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the development and said security personnel including the police and other agencies, were on the trail of the abductors to ensure the release of the victims.
He was said to have been kidnapped alongside a native of the area, Adamu Custom, who was with him around 8.30pm.
