Manchester United’s midfielder, Donny van de Beek, has made a move to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan, marking a potential transition to a permanent transfer.
In this agreement, Eintracht has paid a nominal fee for the loan and has assumed the majority share of Van de Beek’s weekly wages, which amount to £125,000.
Additionally, Eintracht holds an option to purchase the 26-year-old player for €11 million (£9.55 million), with an extra €3 million (£2.6 million) possible in add-ons.
This loan marks the second temporary stint for Van de Beek during his tenure at Manchester United, following an unremarkable five-month period with Everton two years ago.
Van de Beek’s performance at United has been underwhelming, with the Dutch player tallying just two goals in 62 appearances.
His playing time has been sparse, clocking only 19 minutes this season, and he has not featured for the Netherlands national team in nearly three years.
Initially signed from Ajax in September 2020 for £35 million, potentially rising to £40 million, should Eintracht exercise their option to secure Van de Beek permanently, Manchester United faces a considerable loss, estimated at £25.45 million.
