The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa been sworn in as the substantive governor of the state.
Aiyedatiwa was sworn-in at the cocoa conference hall in Akure, the State capital.
The swearing ceremony was presided over by the Chief Judge of the state, Olusegun Odusola.
The swearing-in of Aiyedatiwa was necessitated, following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu today.
Akeredolu’s death was confirmed by the state government through a statement by the commissioner of information and orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju.
According to the statement the governor died of prostate cancer in a German hospital at the age of 67.
It would be recalled that Aiyedatiwa has been in acting capacity following Akeredolu’s illness.
