At least, nine individuals, comprising three women and six men, narrowly avoided a fatal accident after their vehicles collided on Sunday along the Orile-Imo segment of the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway.
According to The PUNCH, the involved vehicles—a Toyota car and a Mitsubishi bus—were both traveling at high speeds, resulting in the collision.
The impact caused the Mitsubishi bus to overturn and the Toyota car to veer off the highway.
An anonymous eyewitness attributed the collision to the excessive speed of the drivers.
The source said, “What I saw was that the vehicles were on a high speed when one lost control and collided with the other. I got there a few minutes after it happened.”
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident during a telephone conversation with journalists.
She attributed the cause of the accident to the drivers’ excessive speeding.
