Former Paris Saint-Germain star Ezequiel Lavezzi was rushed to hospital in Uruguay after an alleged stabbing at his residence.
The ex-winger was transported to Sanatorio Cantegrill following the incident, he was reported to habe sustained an abdomen puncture and a fractured collarbone.
According to Goal.com, a source suggests that the altercation took place during a family gathering hosted by Lavezzi at his residence.
However, TyC Sports reports conflicting details, asserting that the family has refuted such claims, asserting instead that he fell from a ladder while replacing a lightbulb.
A statement from the police read: “On December 20 next time at 05:00 a police mobile arrives at Arenas de José Ignacio, Secc Jurisdiction where they request support from emergency services. When the police arrived, there was VICTIM Ezequiel IVAN LAVEZZI, who was injured and was being treated… Dr. Agustini, who diagnosed a fractured shoulder blade and transferred him to Sanatorio Cantegril. It is unknown at the moment how the injury occurred, he was at a party.”
Lavezzi, a former Argentina national team player, concluded his football career in 2019 following a three-year tenure with the Chinese club Hebei China Fortune.
The now 38-year-old attacker had successful stints with Napoli and PSG subsequent to departing his home country, where he initially began his professional journey with Estudiantes and San Lorenzo.
