An accident took place at the Mowe Bus Stop along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday, resulting in injuries to an undisclosed number of individuals.
Reportedly, a Toyota Hiace bus bearing license plate ACA 604 XT collided with a Volkswagen Yellow bus displaying plate number APP 427 YE, causing the latter to veer off and overrun the drainage pathway adjacent to the road.
At the accident site, our reporter observed that occupants from both vehicles suffered varying degrees of injuries, with law enforcement officers present and engaged in rescuing those affected.
Notably, the windshields of both vehicles were visibly damaged following the collision.
According to an eyewitness identified as Fatal, the Hiace bus, allegedly speeding, rear-ended the Volkswagen, leading to the latter’s deviation and eventual overrun of the drainage pathway.
Fatai said, “I was standing at the bus stop when I saw the collision between the two buses. The Hiace bus was coming at a top speed when it collided with this Volkswagen bus.
“The collision was so hard that the Volkswagen bus overran the pathway on the drainage system. Many people were injured in the two busses.”
A passenger in the yellow bus, preferring anonymity, revealed being startled by the collision, resulting in injuries sustained during the incident.
He said, “I was in the yellow bus when I heard the sound of the collision with our vehicle from the back. We were three on the bus and I am the bus conductor. I, a passenger and the driver were on the bus when the accident happened. The third person jumped out of the vehicle and he sustained injuries on the head.
“Policemen have taken him and others injured to the hospital. You can see that I sustained injuries in my hand. It was a shocking experience.”
