The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, has warned its customers against patronizing touts.
Yakubu-Funtua gave this warning in a statement issued on Monday in Lagos.
He disclosed that the authority had gone out of its way to hire undercover agents to observe and report misbehavior at airports.
“The Managing Director of FAAN at a recent event gave a severe warning to staff, as well as all government agencies that operate at our airports that FAAN will ensure that whoever is culpable is punished.
“Do not give bribes or encourage extortion.
“Respect rules and regulations in respect of carriage of prohibited articles, liquids, and gel.
“We have information desks at all our airports to assist you. Please make use of them,” he said.
Yakubu-Funtua pointed out that FAAN had taken measures to enhance the security equipment to safeguard the safety of the traveling public’s lives and property.
The Director then admonished Nigerians to have faith in the airports throughout the Yuletide season.
The official recommended passengers to come to airports early to avoid crowds and missing their flights.
Yakubu-Funtua said FAAN has increased airport screening areas to provide travelers with a better flying experience.
