Ogun State Government has charged the Oluwanisola Cattle Market, Kara Isheri, Ifo Local Government Area of the state, to come up with resolution to the issues of the poor environmental condition of the market and revenue remittance to government’s coffers.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Bolu Owotomo disclosed this at a meeting held with the leaders of the market, led by Seriki Hausa Community, Alhaji Mohammed Badamosi in his office at Oke-Mosan on Friday.
He said if necessary steps were not taken within the speculated period, drastic steps would be taken by the state government.
Owotomo said the unhealthy attitude of the traders on revenue remittance would no longer be condoned, noting that environmental issues in the market must be priority to avoid environmental hazards.
The Commissioner said, “The government is not happy with the revenue being remitted to government coffers and the poor environmental condition of the market. So, you have to come up with an amicable resolution on these two major issues”.
Owotomo called on traders to cooperate with the government in its bid to ensure adequate welfare and well-being of the people of the state irrespective of their tribes or religions, assuring that the present administration is poised to deliver dividends of democracy to all and sundry.
While reacting, the General Secretary of the market, Prince Babalola Akeweje, thanked the Commissioner for the meeting, vowing that necessary action would be taken on the issue discussed while begging for more time to enable them to come up with an appropriate solution.
