The Abia State Ministry of Health has disclosed that the affected students of the cancelled Preliminary Test Session for Schools of Nursing Amachara and Umuahia will retake the examination on Monday.
This was announced in a press release signed by Ifeanyi Ezeocha for the Abia State Commissioner for Health dated December 1.
It informed the general public and all concerned individuals that the re-sit of the cancelled PTS will be held from Monday 4th to Thursday 7th December, 2023.
The Commissioner for Health advised affected students to prepare themselves for the forthcoming exam.
Abia State Government has ordered the cancellation of the PTS examination for student nurses in the state.
The PTS cancellation was announced by the Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu, during a press briefing in Umuahia, after the State Executive Council meeting.
He said was due to the allegations of wrongdoings against some individuals involved in the conduct of the examination which led to protests by some affected student nurses.
It was learnt that over 300 students who participated in the previous exercise had been waiting for a date for the re-sit.
A staff of the Abia State Ministry of Health who craved anonymity disclosed that the State government would ensure that the examination is conducted in a transparent environment.
He said that as earlier promised by the State government, no extra cost would be paid by the Nursing students to retake the PTS exams.
In addition, one of the students whose ‘successful’ results were cancelled by the State government, Michael Chidiebere has said he was not afraid of taking the exam for the second time, as according to him, he would still clear next week’s exams in flying colours.
While maintaining that his cancelled results were genuine, Chidieberevsaid he would use the second outing to prove his mettle once again.
