The General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army, Major General AE Abubakar, has said the safety of National Youth Service Corps members serving in Plateau State is paramount.
This is contained in a statement released on Saturday via the Nigerian Army’s X account.
According to the statement Abubakar made the pledge during a visit to the NYSC orientation camp in Jos this week.
Abubakar outlined efforts by his command and the military’s Operation Safe Haven to maintain peace in Plateau.
“The wellbeing of NYSC members is paramount. We have employed intelligence and proactive actions to tackle criminalities and reassure citizens of their safety,” he stated.
Abubakar urged the corps members to remain vigilant and provide security agencies useful information to apprehend suspicious persons. He advised them to shun social vices and be law-abiding.
The senior commander warned that there will be no hiding place for criminals, as Operation Safe Haven troops are committed to hunting them down.
He reiterated the military’s commitment to securing Plateau State and called on stakeholders to support efforts at promoting peace.
In her response, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Esther Ikupolati, thanked the GOC for prioritizing the security of corps members.
The visit featured cultural displays and unarmed combat demonstrations by the youth.
