Troops from Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA II, has rearrested an escapee from the Jos prison break, Chimezie Chukwu, also known as Biggi.
In a statement on its official Facebook page, the army said the operation took place in Ugbakwa Village, located in the Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State on Friday.
In the statement titled ‘Troops of operation UDO KA II apprehend escapee of Jos prison break,’ the armh say it recapture Chukwu during a raid conducted by troops in the hideout of unidentified gunmen in Ugbakwa Village in Enugu.
The statement reads, “Troops of Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA II on Friday, October 20, 2023, in conjunction with the Department of State Security Enugu State Command conducted a raid operation to the suspected Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed affiliates, the Eastern Security Network, in their hideout in Ugbakwa Village.”
“He was known for his involvement in drug peddling, gunrunning, and specialization in armed robbery. Several items were recovered from him, including six mobile phones, three mobile phone batteries, one Moniepoint POS and ATM card, two packs of substances suspected to be cannabis, and the sum of One Hundred and Seven Thousand, Two Hundred and Eighty Naira.
The statement added that the suspect and the recovered items are now in the custody of the Department of State Security for further investigation.
