At least two suspected ritualists were arrested with human parts by the Kwara State Police Command’s operatives on Sunday.
The PUNCH reported that the suspects, Wasiu Omonose (35) and Akanbi Ibrahim (32), were arrested during a stop and search along the Oke-Oyi Jebba Road in the Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, the duo who were on a motorcycle were caught with a bag containing the head of a boy and two hands.
Confirming the incident in a statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, said the two suspects confessed that they were taking the human parts to an alfa (Muslim cleric) in Ilorin, the state capital.
The statement said, “They attempted to evade the officers on stop and search, which aroused the suspicion of the operatives.
“Consequently, the suspects were hotly chased and forced to stop. In the process of searching them, a bag containing a fresh human head and hands were found in their possession.
“On interrogation, the suspected ritualists stated that they were taking the fresh human head and hands to an alfa in Ilorin for ritual purposes.”
Okasanmi, who said the police had commenced an investigation into the crime, stated that efforts were on to arrest the cleric mentioned by the suspects.
