In a recent operation, troops from Operation Hadarin Daji in Nigeria successfully rescued 17 kidnapped victims and captured operational motorcycles from terrorists in Kebbi State.
According to Channels, the operation was conducted following credible information about the abduction of an unspecified number of individuals in Kanya village, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, with the kidnappers attempting to move their victims towards Niger state.
The spokesperson for Operation Haradin Daji, Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, confirmed the achievement in a statement issued on Friday.
According to the statement, troops stationed at Malekachi promptly mobilized and set up an ambush along the suspected routes and crossing points the terrorists were likely to use, particularly at Karenbana village.
The superior firepower of the troops forced the terrorists to abandon their victims and flee, sustaining gunshot wounds in the process. As a result, 17 kidnapped victims, including 6 females and 11 males, were rescued. Notably, the rescued group included police personnel who had been kidnapped in Danko-Wasagu.
“Troops swiftly mobilised and laid ambush at the suspected routes and crossing point to be used by the terrorists at Karenbana village. Subsequently, the troops’ firepower superiority forced the terrorists to abandon the victims and escape with gunshot wounds leading to the rescue of 17 kidnapped victims,” Ibrahim stated.
The rescued victims were handed over to the Divisional Police Officer at Bena, facilitating their reunification with their families.
Additionally, troops recovered and secured five motorcycles that had been burnt by the fleeing criminals.
Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of the Joint Task Force, commended the swift response of the troops and urged them to remain proactive in denying terrorists freedom of action.
He also praised the local community for providing timely information that contributed to the successful rescue operation.
Major General Mutkut encouraged residents to maintain vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activities by terrorists within their communities.
