The Yobe State government has commenced a four-day immunization campaign, aiming to immunize 1.1 million children against polio and various diseases.
According to Daily Trust, this initiative spans all 17 local government areas of the state and is part of a polio outbreak response organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency and the state government.
During the launch of the polio vaccination campaign in Damaturu, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi Jawa, emphasized the importance of safeguarding the lives and future of children under the age of five.
He expressed the state government’s commitment to working alongside healthcare partners to eradicate polio through sustained efforts.
The State Coordinator of the World Health Organization, Dr. Nuhu Ningi, reiterated WHO’s dedication to combating deadly diseases in the state, underlining the importance of collaborative efforts in this endeavor.
“WHO is committed to working with the state government in promoting immunisation in the state,” he said.
