The Lagos State Government has conducted an airlift of 310 intending pilgrims who were originally scheduled for the Easter edition of this spiritual journey to Israel and Jordan.
According to The PUNCH, the pilgrims embarked on their journey, landing in the Kingdom of Jordan during the early hours of Sunday, following a seven-hour flight from the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, to the Queen Alia International Airport in the Kingdom of Jordan.
Before their departure, the pilgrims assembled at the Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, for final administrative and logistical preparations.
During this gathering, a session of prayers and praises was observed, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam, addressed the intending pilgrims at the chapel.
He emphasized the importance of dedicating time to intercede for Nigeria as the nation celebrated its 63rd Independence Day anniversary.
The intending pilgrims also received assurances from Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Christian Religion, Very Rev. Bukola Adeleke, that Nigeria would be strong and once more ascend in the comity of nations.
He commended the “unfettered support of the state governor to ensure that those travelling for the pilgrimage with the state have a worthwhile experience and enjoy a first-class treatment in the area of welfare packages provided for them.”
