Harry Potter actor, Sir Michael Gambon has died at the age of 82.
In a career spanning over six decades, Sir Michael Gambon, celebrated for his portrayal of Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore in several Harry Potter films, has passed away.
Sir Michael’s acting journey commenced more of than 60 years ago, during which he was a founding member of the Royal National Theatre alongside Laurence Olivier.
His talent was showcased in various roles, including the French detective Jules Maigret in the ITV series Maigret, and he graced the screen in the BBC series, The Singing Detective.
A statement issued on behalf of Lady Gambon and son Fergus Gambon said: “We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon.
“Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia.”
