The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Bago, has emphasized that his state is among the hardest-hit regions by terrorist activities.
He further indicated that the situation in Niger State could potentially surpass that of Borno State, which has long been grappling with insurgency.
Governor Bago made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation representing the Victims Support Fund at the Government House in Minna on Thursday.
Expressing deep concern over the substantial adverse impact of terrorist actions within the state, he underscored the severity of the situation by stating, “The situation could be worse than that of Borno State.”
He added, “The cause can be linked to the size of the state, arable land, bodies of water and illegal mining activities in the state.”
While thanking the VSF for coming to the aid of individuals afflicted by terrorists’ malicious acts, he urged the Federal Government, international development partners, and all well-meaning Nigerians to provide additional assistance.
