Donald Trump Jr., the son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, encountered a security breach on his X account, formerly known as his Twitter account, on Wednesday.
According to a report by the New York Post, hackers gained unauthorized access and proceeded to publish a series of offensive posts. Among these posts was a false announcement of the ex-president’s death.
“I’m sad to announce, my father Donald Trump has passed away. I will be running for president in 2024,” read the first message from Donald Trump Jr’s account at 8:25 a.m.
The 77-year-old former president took swift action to prove his vitality by posting an unrelated message on his rival social media platform, Truth Social, at 8:46 a.m. This was more than 20 minutes after the fake death announcement, as reported by the New York Post.
Subsequently, a string of blatantly hacked messages flooded Donald Trump Jr.’s account. These included a provocative statement about North Korea and a fabricated conversation with Jeffrey Epstein, who had passed away more than four years ago in his Manhattan prison cell.
The unauthorized posts have since been removed, and the account has been reinstated.
