In front of a celebrity-studded audience, Inter Miami defeated Los Angeles Football Club 3-1 on Sunday night thanks in part to two assists from Lionel Messi.
Goals from Facundo Farías, Jordi Alba and Leonardo Campana gave Inter Miami the victory on Sunday night.
Sunday’s match though will be Messi’s last with Miami for at least the next two weeks. The 36-year-old will be part of Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador on Thursday and Bolivia five days later.
With eight games left in the regular season, Miami is eight points short of a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference despite Messi’s eleven goals and eight assists.
Miami has won 11 games in all competitions since Messi joined the team in mid-July.
