A community group, Akute West Area Community Development Council has trained hundreds of youths and women resident in the area, in skills acquisition in order to position them to be employable and self-employed.
According to Leadership, the community group organized the training in cake baking; soap making, decoration and Closed Circuit TV, installation training with the aim of making the youths acquire knowledge and be useful to themselves and the society.
The convener, Chairman, Akute West Area CDC, Elder Toyin Abraham Kaadiri, who noted that the measures was to tackle the problem of youth unemployment in the country, explained that the skill acquisition and most recently that of the CCTV which began on Wednesday was in consonance of the need to prepare the youths for required skills in the present world of innovative job market.
“I and my executives of the Akute West Area CDC are elated for the successful kicking off of the CCTV installation training which is 2-day training for youths residing in our area. This is the second series of skills acquisition programmes that the CDC has undergone in three weeks. We thank God for making this day a reality.
‘’The participants that came to the venue shot beyond our target and this is because closed circuit television is relevant in our world today for surveillance, security and business management purposes.
“We shall continue to do more to re-position our youths and children,” Kadiri said
A community leader in Akute under Ifo Local Government in Ogun state, Alhaji Sanni Mubarak said this skill acquisition programme was historical because it would afford participants to broaden their knowledge in safety measures, surveillance and business inventory approach as many were learning the skill for the first time.
