Personnel of the Kwara State Police Command has arrested another Isese activist, Oluwo Of Tede, Chief Ademola Olawoore for defamation of character.
According to The PUNCH, Olawoore, after his arrest was detained in a correctional facility in Ilorin, Kwara State.
In a video that has since circulated on social media, a visibly disturbed Olawoore, as he is affectionately known, was charged with defamation of character.
The elderly Isese activist was detained in Ibadan on August 19 and transferred to a correctional facility in Ilorin.
According to reports, Baba Tede was arrested for allegedly denigrating a Muslim cleric named Alfa Okutagidi.
His detention occurred a few days after the arrest of Adegbola Abdulazeez, also known as Tani Olohun, a prominent Isese activist.
The state police command apprehended Abdulazeez in Ibadan and transported him to Ilorin, Kwara State. He was charged with defaming the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and prominent state clerics.
Adedamola Solesi, one of Abdulazeez’s attorneys, and the Facebook page Kwara Info confirmed his arrest.
However, Olawoore’s family and friends were reassured by Solesi that he would soon regain his freedom.
“On Baba Tede’s case, we could not effect his bail today (Wednesday) as his case and Talolorun’s are being tried at the same time.
“The preliminary objection must first be heard before they can be released per the court’s instruction,” he said.
The Facebook post titled, Defamation of character, read, “Oluwo of Tede who claimed Alfa Okutagidi has an Idol at home has been arrested for defamation of character.
“A day after, the blogger who named himself Tani Olohun was arrested.
