India’s most recent space mission successfully achieved lunar orbit landing, marking the country’s second endeavour towards a lunar landing.
The Indian Space Research Organisation disclosed this information through its official Facebook platform.
“Chandrayaan-3 has been successfully inserted into the lunar orbit,” the agency posted.
Commencing in mid-July, the mission underwent a series of circles around Earth, progressively attaining the necessary velocity for its forthcoming voyage.
Following a safe landing scheduled for Wednesday, a rover fueled by solar energy will commence its study of the lunar south pole, an area that has not been extensively studied. Throughout its operational span of two weeks, the rover will transmit essential data back to Earth.
