The Kaduna State Government has unveiled a thorough palliative care scheme intended to lessen the detrimental effects of subsidy removal on its residents.
In a joint press conference with the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Suleiman, and other members of the palliative committee made up of representatives of organised labour and civil society organisations, Governor Uba Sani revealed the initiative on Tuesday.
The N2 billion palliative fund that the Federal Government has so far disbursed to the state will help 210,000 poor households, totaling 1,050,000 vulnerable people, according to Sani.
The governor also stated that the palliatives intervention will be implemented in three stages, beginning with the provision of food to houses that were vulnerable and destitute.
To address transportation issues, free buses will be purchased in the second and third stages. Fertilisers and incentives will also be provided to farmers and micro, small and medium-sized businesses to help them grow.
