The National Emergency Management Agency has visited Internally Displaced Persons’ camps in four Niger Local Government Areas.
This on-site assessment was necessitated by the report of bandit attacks in this communities.
According to a statement issued by the agency on Thursday, the four LGAs are: Wushishi LGA, Mariga LGA, Shiroro LGA, and Munya LGA.
The assessment was in collaboration with the state government and the State Emergency Management Agency.
The statement read, “Following the report of Bandit Attack in four LGAs of Niger State, namely Wushishi LGA, Mariga LGA, Shiroro LGA, and Munya LGA.
“NEMA, Minna Operations Office constituted a team for an on-the-spot assessment of the affected communities across all the four LGAs, this is done in conjunction with Niger State SEMA.
“The incident which occurred separately, started on 2nd – 11th in Mariga LGA, on the 8th in Wushishi and on 14th in Shiroro and Munya LGAs respectively. This has left many injured and homeless, some abducted, residential buildings and shops were destroyed and two lives were lost.
“In Shiroro LGA most of the affected persons were in Camp and some in the Host community and this is so for all the LGAs.”
