The National Union of Air Transport Employees has ordered the Aviation Security and logistics subsector to begin an immediate strike on August 16, 2023, due to low wages.
Circulars were sent to the Director-General of Civil Aviation, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Commissioner of Police, Airports Command, the Airport Commandant, and the Director of the Department of State Security at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos Command.
The circular, issued by the General Secretary of the National Union of Air Transport Employees, Comrade Ocheme Aba, expresses concern over the inadequate monthly salary of N30,000 received by AVSEC graduates.
He further stated that previous attempts to engage in negotiations for enhanced pay on behalf of their constituents were ultimately unsuccessful.
