Spain advanced to the Women’s World Cup final for the first time with a 2-1 win over Sweden on Tuesday, and will face either Australia or England.
Olga Carmona scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute at Eden Park in Auckland, sending Spain into Sunday’s final in Sydney.
Sweden, which has now lost back-to-back World Cup semi-finals, had levelled just 93 seconds earlier through Rebecka Blomqvist, and the game appeared to be heading to extra time.
With just 10 minutes remaining, replacement Salma Paralluelo, 19, handed Spain the lead in a game of scant chances.
They will face either England or Australia in the final on Sunday in Sydney.
