The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mufwang has established a Security and Information Centre to allow people of the to report security developments in their areas.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, this was contained in a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mt Gyang Bere, on Thursday in Jos, noting that the governor disclosed this during the inauguration of the centre.
Governor Mufwang explained that the centre would bridge the communication divide between the general public and the government and enable Plateau to address its security challenges.
Since the new government assumed office, the state has been under incessant attacks in some communities in Mangu Local Government Area and other parts, where more than 300 people had been killed.
He disclosed that the centre, established by the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency, was adopting a toll-free hotline for information sharing.
The statement said the centre, which is already operational, will serve as a channel for the government to obtain early warning signals and intervene promptly and swiftly.
He further said that it would enable gathering feedback on development matters within the state for appropriate action.
