Famous Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema has broken veteran singer King Sunny Ade’s 41-year-old record as the Nigerian artiste with the longest-running album in the US Billboard 200 chart’s history.
Before now, King Sunny Ade’s album spent 29 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart and became the longest-running Nigerian project in the chart’s history.
However, Rema’s debut album ‘Rave & Roses’ which spent a 30th week on the chart this week has beaten the music legend to take the lead.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption.
It is also worthy of note that King Sunny Ade set the record with his critically-acclaimed album, “Juju Music” in 1982 – 18 years before Rema was born.
