Renowned Yoruba monarch, the Oni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, alongside other prominent traditional rulers will be on ground to grace the occasion of the 2023 Olokun Festival scheduled to hold on August 26.
This was made known by the Chief Host and Convener of the event, Dr. Lara Fashola, assuring attendees that 2023 edition will promote and strengthen the richness of the Yoruba culture.
While speaking with journalists in Lagos, Dr. Fashola said the event, with the theme, ‘Entertainment is Culture,’ would hold on August 26 in collaboration with the Lagos State Government and Lagos Tourism.
She disclosed that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, would attend with other traditional leaders, cultural figures, foreign visitors and stakeholders from the public and private sectors.
The Convener explained that the event would serve as an avenue for cross-cultural interaction, creating a greater understanding of Nigeria’s history and encouraging cooperation among communities.
Dr Fashola stressed that the theme pointed out crucial relationship between the creative industries, including music, dance, storytelling and historic Yoruba history.
“This year’s edition seeks to promote and boost the richness of our people’s culture in a grand and remarkable manner. Our goal is to create an unforgettable celebration that will leave a lasting impact in the hearts and minds of everyone present.
“With a reputation for being one of the most significant cultural events in Nigeria, the 2023 Olokun Festival is expected to surpass previous editions in scope and impact.
