A Nigerian doctor residing in the United Kingdom has had his parental rights revoked by the government following an incident where he disciplined his 16-year-old son by using a belt.
The disclosure was made by a child rights advocate, identified as pepstalk1, on her Instagram platform on Wednesday.
The IG user stated that the Nigerian physician disciplined his son by administering corporal punishment after discovering him and his peers engaging in the act of viewing an unsuitable video while gathered for a study session.
According to the boy’s friends, when the father was beating his son with a belt, the doctor continually said, “Is this how you want to become a doctor?”
In the video, the doctor could be seen delivering an account of the case in front of the court where it is being heard.
She said, “In court, the 16-year-old told the court that his father always flogs him and is forcing him to choose a career he doesn’t want.
“After listening to the boy’s testimony, the court ordered that the boy be taken away from his father and he will remain in the custody of the UK government.”
