A teenage mother, Jazmin Paez, has been arrested and charged in court for allegedly attempting to hire a hitman with the intention of killing her 3-year-old son.
Paez, aged 16, made an appearance before a judge in Miami-Dade County on Wednesday, where she was formally charged with solicitation of murder and unlawful use of a communications device.
As per a report released by the Miami-Dade police, Paez sought the assistance of a satirical online platform specialising in arranging simulated acts of violence in order to orchestrate the removal of the child to a distant location, with the potential for harm or fatality to occur expeditiously. According to the report, she expressed her willingness to provide a payment of $3,000.
She stated that she wanted “to get something done once and for all,” the report said.
The police revealed that Paez shared her son’s address, a recent photo, and her phone number during her visit to the parody site. She requested that the task be completed by Thursday.
The man operating the website contacted the Police, prompting detectives to take action on Tuesday. Paez was located and apprehended at her father’s residence, where she had been residing for an extended period, through the utilisation of her IP address and phone number.
The grandmother of the boy also provided a statement to the detectives, revealing that her daughter had relocated in May. The speaker mentioned that her grandson currently resides with her and maintains regular communication with his mother through FaceTime.
Paez testified before Miami-Dade County Judge Mindy Glazer that she has never received treatment for any kind of mental illness. A $15,000 bond was set for her. Thursday marked her release from custody.
