Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze, is close to sealing a move to Italian giants, AC Milan after the San Siro outfit stepped up in pursuit of the Nigerian.
The 24-year-old Abia-born forward attracted interest from the Rosenneri after a decent season with Villareal in La Liga and he’s valued around €20m by the Italian giants.
According to famous football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chukwueze is interested in the move and has already agreed on personal terms with Milan, who recently signed Swiss forward of Nigerian descent, Noah Arinzechukwu Okafor.
“After closing in on Noah Okafor deal, AC Milan are working to complete also the agreement for Samuel Chukwueze Negotiations advancing with Villarreal as player already agreed personal terms — he’s keen on the move,” Romano revealed.
Chukweuwze has been a pivotal player for the Yellow Submarine having joined the club as a youngster in 2017 from Diamond Football Academy.
After spending one season with Villareal’s youth team, Chukwueze whose idols are Jay-Jay Okocha and Arjen Robben broke into the senior team of the Spanish La Liga outfit in 2018 and has had a successful outing with the Spaniards.
On the other hand, Okafor who started his senior professional footballing career at FC Basel before joining Swiss giants Red Bull Salzburg in 2020 will join the Italian outfit for a transfer fee of around €13/14m.
The Swiss-Nigerian player will be joining Milan on a long-term deal agreed a year after coach Stefano Pioli showed interest in signing him(Okafor) back in 2022.
“Medical tests booked on Saturday as Okafor travel is scheduled,” Romano added.
Both Nigerians will be teaming up with a fellow Nigerian, Fikayo Tomori, who plays for the English football national team. Tomori sits at the heart of Milan’s defence after leaving Chelsea for Italy.
Meanwhile, another Nigerian forward, Victor Boniface, could be on his way to Germany as he is closer to signing a deal with Bayern Leverkusen.
The 22-year-old Nigerian who plays as a forward for Belgian Pro League side Union SG is close to a deal worth over €20m to sign for the German outfit.
Romano said. “Bayer Leverkusen are in advanced talks to sign Victor Boniface from Union St Gilloise — negotiations are progressing and the deal getting closer.
“The Nigerian striker has agreed personal terms with Leverkusen and clubs now negotiating a deal worth more than €20m.”
Meanwhile, defender, Ola Aina, edges closer to a Premier League return. He is undergoing a medical at Nottingham Forest who will sign him as a free agent.
“Medical ongoing right now, Aina will join on a free transfer after his contract expired at Serie A side Torino,” Romano said.
Aina will team up with fellow Nigerians, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Emmanuel Dennis, who helped Forest escape relegation in their first season back to the Premier League after a 23-year wait in the lower divisions.
