Two people identified as Sekinat Lawal 48, and Abdullahi Fasasi 43, who were living the same house on Orunsolu Street, Odo-Ona, off the Ibadan-Abeokuta expressway, Oyo State, have reportedly died of diarrhea on Wednesday morning.
Abdullahi was found dead in his room, while Sekinat was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
While recounting the incident, Rafiu, the younger brother of Abdullahi, said, “It was my younger brother, Safiu, who began vomiting and experiencing diarrhoea simultaneously, and we were attending to him.
“At that moment, I asked my elder brother, Abdullahi, who has now passed away, to get medication and call a nurse to assist him. I was surprised when he returned and complained of tiredness before collapsing.
“Although he regained consciousness briefly, he started vomiting and having diarrhoea again.
“I then called on Aunt Sekinat to come and see what was happening. She came out and joined us in attending Abdullahi. I left to fetch some items, and upon my return, Aunt Sekinat also began vomiting and experiencing diarrhoea.
“Her condition was so severe that we had to rush her to the hospital. Before we left the house, Abdullahi had already passed away, while Sekinat was pronounced dead upon reaching the hospital.
“Interestingly, my younger brother, who initially experienced vomiting and diarrhoea, is still at the hospital as we speak. Aunt Sekinat and my elder brother have already been buried according to Islamic customs.”
