The Kano State Government has officially designated Wednesday as a non-working day in observance of the commencement of the 1445 Islamic New Year.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the state Commissioner for Information, Baba Dantiye, confirmed the occurrence and relayed the state governor, Abba Yusuf’s, felicitations to Muslims worldwide on the commencement of the new Islamic year.
‘’The Governor who congratulated Muslims around the world on the dawn of the new Islamic year enjoined the civil servants and the people in the state to pray for peace and tranquillity as well as economic development of our dear state and the country at large,’’ the statement said.
The governor urged people to live their lives in accordance with Islamic teachings and put the values of tolerance, kindness, and love as demonstrated by the Holy Prophet Muhammad into practise.
