A Senior Pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lagos, Elder Adeyinka Ojediran, has called on students and educators to endeavour to attain both academic and spiritual well-being.
The cleric disclosed this while speaking at a special devotional entitled, ‘Succeed in School’, at the Agege Stake devotional, citing the significance of education in the lives of youth and the role it plays in their personal development.
“I understand the trials and tribulations you face in your academic journey, but I assure you that your efforts are not in vain. Education is a vital tool that can open doors of opportunity and enable you to fulfill your potential,” he added.
He explained how crucial it was to integrating spiritual growth with academic pursuits, reminding the participants that education encompasses not only the acquisition of knowledge but also the development of character and virtue.
“As you seek to excel academically, remember to nourish your spiritual well-being as well. Faith, integrity, and moral values should be the foundation upon which your educational journey is built,” stated.
He admonished the audience to always remember three important truths as taught by President Russell M. Nelson that they are 1. Children of God, 2. Children of covenant and 3. Disciples of Jesus Christ.
He stated that remembering these three identifiers will always guide them in their choices and actions and bring them true success in their lives.
The Director of Succeed in School, Kevin Hallstrom, spoke on the purpose of SIS, adding that “the purpose is to help youth to become academically capable learners.”
