The custodian of the Ari igba Asotesun Masquerade, Yaku Osupa Compound in Ogbomoso, in Oyo State, Prince Ojewumi Sunday Mosoroju, has said plans have been concluded to mark the 2023 edition of the Egungun festival on July 20.
Prince Mosoroju explained that the Ari igba Asotesun masquerade is a cherished and unique tradition they inherited from their ancestors, which, according to him, forebearers have greatly benefited from the sociocultural fiesta and celebration of masquerade.
“This masquerade plays a crucial role in the progress of our town, because at every outing and celebration, Ari igba Asotesun prays and blesses the town and that has always helped in creating peace and harmony among the people.
“Ari igba Asotesun is one of the unique masquerades, known for its peaceful nature and is not associated with violence is scheduled to make its appearance on July 20, 2023.”
Mosoroju added, “The masquerade always makes sacrifices on the day it appears, signifying its dedication and commitment.”
