French international and Paris Saint Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, on Thursday landed in Cameroon.
The World Cup winner was welcomed by a large crowd at the airport terminal in Yaoundé.
They wildly shouted out his name as he emerged from the terminal at the airport in the capital Yaounde, according to an AFP journalist.
Mbappe, who is also captain of France’s national team, will stay during his visit lasting several days at a hotel complex belonging to the family of French former tennis champion Yannick Noah, who lives in Yaounde.
He is scheduled to visit a school for children who are deaf and hard of hearing in the capital’s suburbs on Friday.
The son of Yannick Noah, retired NBA star Joakim Noah, is expected to play in the basketball game in which he will also participate.
Later, he plays in a football game against the neighbourhood team FC Vent d’Etoudi.
He travels to his father Wilfried Mbappe’s hometown of Djebale on Saturday. His father was a young man when he fled Cameroon for France, where he worked as a football coach.
