Residents of the NASFAT community, Felele phase II, a suburb of Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital, have made a distress call through a letter to Abuja Electricity Distribution Company over the total blackout in the community which has lasted several months.
In a Save Our Soul letter addressed to the Lokoja office of AEDC, the Community Chairman, Hon Sani Ibrahim, and the Chairman Committee on Electricity, Raji Omuya have called on the power giant to come to their aid.
The community explained that the lack of power has crippled economic activities.
It added that the total blackout has given rise to increasing criminal activities.
The community appealed to AEDC and Governor Yahaya Bello to provide them with a new transformer, according to Daily Post.
“We are calling on AEDC and Governor Yahaya Bello to quickly come to our aid. Our community has been suffering from a total blackout for several months. Economic activities have been crippled, hoodlums are taking advantage of this situation.
“All we are asking for is a new transformer to fix our electricity problem. We have made contributions within ourselves to restore power back to our community but it is far above us, that is why we are making this passionate appeal for AEDC and Governor Bello to come and save us from these long months of darkness and hardship,” the letter reads in part.
