The first phase of the Lagos State Rail Mass Transit, known as the Blue Line Rail will commence operation soon.
This was disclosed by a Media Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat on Friday, June 30, 2023.
Gawat through his Twitter handle on Friday, reported that the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, Eng. Abimbola Akinajo inspected the ongoing project.
According to him, Engr. Akinajo led a team of LAMATA Engineers, project consultants and contractors on a tour of the Blue Line.
He stated that the preparation for the commencement of passengers operations on the first phase of LRMT, Blue Line, from Marina Station to Mile 12 station, necessitated the tour.
“The MD of LAMATA, Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, leading a team of LAMATA Engineers, project consultants and contractors on a tour of the Blue Line. In preparation for the commencement of passenger operations on the first phase of LRMT, Blue Line from Marina station to Mile 2 station,” Gawat wrote.
The project of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit System, run by LAMATA, which started in 2008, is a 27km rail tracks, which run from Okokomaiko to Mile 2, and is expected to transport 500,000 passengers per day, when it is completed.
However, the first phase of the project, which is 13km long, with five stations (Marina-National Theatre-Orile-Suru-Alaba-Mile 2), completed and will be ready for operations soon.
